Dinosaurs
We recently did a unit on dinosaurs. The kids love this theme. In our dramatic play center we made a wall where they could write hieroglyphics. They really enjoyed this. We also have "dinosaur bones" to inspect and lots of fun tools a paleontologist would need for their job.
At our art center we had the kids paint a picture with watercolors and then use sponge stamps with paint to add the dinosaurs.
At our block center we had lots of dinosaurs and dinosaur mats.
We recently wrote a grant for a program called Mr.Know It's. We love it! It comes with a lot of center activities. This is a great one that goes along with our dinosaur theme.
I got this great dinosaur addition game from scholastic. I also bought little dinosaurs for the kids to count, sort and add with. These little baskets with the numbers and dots in them came with my room but I bet you could find them around Easter. They are great to use with a variety of manipulatives at the math center.

Patrick
I always have my leprechaun friend Patrick visit my class in the month of March. I got this idea from a first grade teacher when I was student teaching. Patrick is a lot like Flat Stanley. I let Patrick pick who he wants to go home with each night. The students bring him back the next day and share what Patrick did at their house. I have the students interview each other about Patrick's adventures when he visited their home. Each student gives Patrick a souvenir to take back to Ireland. The kids always love Patrick.

Dr.Seuss
Here are some pictures of our Dr.Seuss unit. Most of these pictures are from past years but we do pretty much the same thing. My kiddos loved trying green eggs and ham. I only had one student not like them:) We make our dramatic play center into Dr.Seuss' Bistro. My assistant thought of this idea:) The kids love serving each other green eggs and ham. I got our art project idea from pinterest.
Classroom Pictures
Here are some pictures of my last classroom. The bananas with the numbers you see in the pictures help our students know how many can be in each center at a time. We did not have windows in this class so my assistant made us some really cute faux windows. I actually still have them if anyone wants them. They are free, just let me know:)
Welcome to Mrs.Mason's Class!
Hello there! I decided to start a blog to share what we are doing in our classroom. I love getting ideas from other teachers so I thought I would share what I have come up with and what I have found from other teachers the last 10 years. I also have an amazing assistant who is very creative. I thought my parents may also like to see what we are up to each week. Hope you enjoy our curious adventures in pre-k. Thanks for stopping by!
